Review: Beautiful by Christina Lauren

Rating: Five stars
Series: Beautiful Bastard #5
Date published: October 4, 2016
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Featuring the entire BEAUTIFUL series cast for one final hurrah!
A FREE-SPIRITED GIRL IN NEED OF A BREAK.
A MAN WEIGHED DOWN BY RESPONSIBILITY.
A ROAD TRIP VACATION WHERE ALL BETS ARE OFF.
OH, AND A LOT OF WINE.
After walking in on her boyfriend shagging another girl in their place, Pippa Bay Cox ditches London for the States to go on a drunken road trip with Ruby Miller and some of her Beautiful friends.
Scaling the career ladder is the default way to deal with heartbreak—and to just deal—for Jensen Bergstrom. Absolutely buried by his drive and workload, he rarely takes time for himself. But when his sister Hanna convinces him to join the gang on a two-week wine tour, he has a rare moment of cutting loose. Of course, it’s only once he’s committed that he realizes the strange girl he met briefly on the plane is coming along, too. She might be too much for him…or he might realize his life has become too small and needs her to make it bigger, crazier.
With this circle of friends there’s always something going on: from Chloe and Sara’s unexpected personality swaps to Will’s new domestic side to Bennett’s text message barrage and George’s own happily-ever-after. In short, their adventures in love, friendship, and hilarity are nothing short of Beautiful.
The Beautiful Bastard series has been of my favorites since I read the first book years ago. I've followed every book in this series and I have to say that Beautiful was my second favorite book in the series, right after Beautiful Bastard. Beautiful was the perfect way to end this series.

Beautiful starts off with Pippa walking in on her cheating boyfriend. Done with him and needing a break from work, she decides some time away would be good for her. She meets up with her friend Ruby in Boston and joins Ruby and her friends on a winery trip along the east coast, which would end with a week at a cabin. Jensen just happens to be one of those friends and after getting off to a rough start, they find they have an attraction to each other and fireworks ensue.

Pippa and Jensen were both really great main characters. I loved how zany Pippa was and how hardworking Jensen was. They were very different people but somehow that made them perfect for each other.

There was just one problem I found while reading Beautiful and that was that the two different POVs were in different fonts in my paperback copy. They had Pippa or Jensen's name at the top the chapter, so I really felt like the different fonts were unnecessary. It was disconcerting while reading multiple chapters to be constantly switching fonts like that, but as you can see by my five star rating, this issue didn't hinder my enjoyment of Beautiful. I just wanted to let other readers to know to prepare for this if you're reading the paperback (I can't say if the font switch happens in the ebook or not).

You can expect a good amount of humor in Beautiful, as well as some sex scenes and plenty of cameos from other beloved characters in the series. This was a romance that was a joy to read. I loved the chemistry between Pippa and Jensen. Perhaps my favorite part of Beautiful was actually the string of epilogues that checked in with the characters from past books. It was the perfect way to end the Beautiful Bastard series and I feel very satisfied.

I highly recommend Beautiful and the rest of the Beautiful Bastard series. Each book is well written and it's impossible not to fall for each one of Christina Lauren's characters.
