The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely

Rating: Five stars
Date published: October 17, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis from Goodreads:
From NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a sexy new standalone romance…
Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she's gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She's the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can't risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…

The Sexy One was one of my most anticipated books of 2016. I was in love with Simon from his very first appearance in a Blakely book, so I loved finally getting to read his story. I was not disappointed by this novel. In fact, I would go so far as to say this is now my second favorite Lauren Blakely book (nothing will ever take first place from Playing With Her Heart). The Sexy One was a joy to read from start to finish.

Simon will be the man of your dreams. He's attractive, works hard at his job, and is also great dad to his daughter Hayden. Honestly, it's impossible not to fall in love with him. Additionally, Abby is a great female lead. She's quirky, easy to relate to, and is just as hardworking as Simon. Along with her job as Hayden's nanny, she also teaches language classes, which becomes an important part of the plot when she offers to tutor Simon in French.

There's no doubt that Simon and Abby are both great characters, but what's even better is how well they fit together. Their chemistry is off the chart. The Sexy One has one of the best romances I've seen in a romance novel. It's very complicated, since Abby is the nanny for Simon's daughter, so fans of forbidden romance will love this book.

The Sexy One has great pacing and a great plot line. The chapters alternate from Abby's POV to Simon's POV, all in first person. The novel begins with Abby six months into her job as Hayden's nanny, having fought her crush on Simon for that entire time. They bond over videos of eaglets and Hayden and it's not long before you can see how perfect the two of them are for each other. Once Abby starts tutoring Simon in French so he can more easily close a business deal, you can really tell how impossible it's going to be for them to resist each other.

Perhaps my favorite part of The Sexy One is the slow build between Abby and Simon. The slow build is why I say the pacing is great. It's impossible for Abby and Simon to jump headfirst into things with so much on the line. Abby loves her job as Hayden's nanny and genuinely needs the job. She can't just throw it all away for something that isn't going to last. On the other side, Simon thinks Abby is the perfect nanny for Hayden and it's very hard for him to find a good nanny. But can they make it work and find a solution? You'll have to read it and find out.

I highly recommend purchasing The Sexy One when it comes out on October 17. It's a page turner and you'll love every moment of it, just like I did.
